For some time, Congress has been teasing us with promises of a sequel to the Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement Act of 2019 (SECURE Act). Currently, there are several versions of proposed legislation in circulation: RISE & SHINE, EARN Act and SECURE 2.0. The SECURE 2.0 House version is, in large part, a combination of EARN and RISE & SHINE, and it is expected that the Senate’s version of SECURE 2.0, upon completion of the pending review, will be similar to the House version. Insiders appear confident that one of these versions will be passed before year-end.
